The department of foreigners' rights grants and extends residence permits for the purposes of residence regulated by law. It is also responsible for the interests of the members of EU nationals. It is the contact person for all questions concerning the right of residence, the non-german nationals legally residing. Other tasks include the control of the right to reside through secondary provisions and the issuance of German passport papers. The acceptance and examination of the declarations of obligations, which are a regular condition for the issuing of tourist visas to visit Germany, also takes place in this area. The area of jurisdiction in the field of aliens is also the termination of the legality of the stay through the withdrawal of the right of residence.
